Our Story

Upstreamed was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic by Dr. Riley Konara (U.S. Army physician) and Dhanu Konara (biomedical engineer), after watching traditional journals delay life-saving insights — while keeping 100% of the profits.

Doctors and researchers do the work, take the risk, and generate the insights — but traditional journals take the rights, the revenue, and the credit.

You write the paper. They sell it.

You wait months. They build their brand.

You get… maybe prestige.

That’s not a publishing model. That’s a broken system.

So we built something better.

Upstreamed is a platform where medical professionals control their content, their revenue, and their reputation. You can publish instantly or get peer-reviewed in days. You keep your rights, grow your audience, track your impact — and get paid for your expertise.

It’s upstream medicine for publishing: we fix the problem at the source.

Launch your journal. Share your insights. Get paid.
